SENsory Movers
Dance classes for children with diagnosed or suspected special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Cirencester, Gloucestershire
“The class is something the boys really look forward to each week. They love to do things together but our eldest son gets really overwhelmed in usual group environments so it’s not usually accessible to us. This class is really welcoming, inclusive and fun. The ladies that run the group are fantastic and really make the kids feel engaged and welcome. Our son says he feels ‘calm’ when he is there. ”
We aim to provide everybody with the opportunity to dance, by catering for different ages, abilities and needs. We are passionate about supporting those with additional needs/special educational needs (SEN) who may otherwise shy away from regular classes. To us everyone is an individual and we know dance brings so much enjoyment and benefits such as making friends, building confidence, helping with balance, concentration and improving fitness.
We are proud to have two classes dedicated to children with disabilities on Saturdays at Paternoster School Sports Hall
Sensory Movers 1: 11:00 - 11:30am (for children aged 5+ who require minimal parental support to participate)
Sensory Movers 2: 11:40 - 12:10pm (for children aged 3+ who require parental support to participate)
We use exciting themes, repeated dance activities and props to not only boost physical development but to encourage social interaction, confidence and creativity. We value the importance of dance for children’s physical and social development and look forward to working with your child to support their journey through dance.
Our teachers have experience working with children with disabilities, especially children with autism, Down’s syndrome and cerebral palsy, in dance classes as well as educational settings - please do not hesitate to get in touch with any questions you may have.
